Hercules (2014)

by  |  July 17th, 2017  |  Fantasy

IMG_3040Ok, so as far as this type of movie goes… I have to admit that I have always thought that Kevin Sorbo (Andromeda) did a great job in the series, ‘Hercules: The Legendary Journey’… And I also feel like he did a great job in the subsequent movies before and after the series…

So when I found out that, ‘The Rock’ was taking over the role from the aging Sorbo, I have to say that not only was I un-impressed with the idea of The Rock becoming Hercules, but it wasn’t until I actually saw the movie recently, that I finally changed my mind!

Written by: Ryan Condal (Colony), Evan Spiliotopoulos (Beauty And The Beast) & Directed by: Brett Ratner (X-Men: The Last Stand). Starring: Dwayne Johnson (San Andreas), Ian McShane (Kungfu Panda), John Hurt (Alien), Rufus Sewell (Dark City), Aksel Hennie (Headhunters) & Reece Ritchie (The Lies We Tell).

“In this moment, on this day, become the man you were born to be. You have it within yourself to write your own legend. Let it be to death, or Victory!” – A quote from the movie, Hercules (2014)

Ok, so this movie tells the story of how after the bloody death of his family, Hercules (Johnson) heads out with some of his best friends and becomes a mercenary… And the more work he does… The more his heroics grow, and the legend of Hercules, the son of Zues grows!

But when Lord Cotys (Hurt) lets his ambitions grow to the point where they get the better of him… He decides to hire Hercules and his band to do a job they thought they were doing… But it turns out they actually were not doing!

And it will be up to Hercules, to become more then just the legend… But to become the symbol for good he was destined to become… And stop Lord Cotys before he is able to take over the known world!

Hercules of myth fighting a monster of legend!

Hercules of myth fighting a monster of legend!

Now in truth, I have seen a ton of great Hercules movies… This one is a good one… But it doesn’t quite raise up to the likes of the Hercules movies of the 60s, or even the more modern Sorbo movies… The reason being is the ballads that keep coming up in the movie get old fast, and I know this may sound dumb… But the end titles for the movie are kind of irritating!

But either way, this movie is actually a good one, and is well worth it if you have the time to check it out!
