Reboots Vs. Remakes… Why A Reboot Is Better Than A Remake.

I don’t know if you guys have noticed this yet, but for a lot of years, Hollywood keeps trying to churn out remake after remake, of just about everything!

I mean at first I thought that they were just going to remake every horror movie that has ever existed and replace them with these horrible versions of classic horror movies!

Well folks, I have some good news… It looks like Hollywood has finally started getting the clue… The clue being that, remakes for the most part suck!

But what can Hollywood do to regain some momentum after the years of crap that they have been churning out in the name of these classic movies? Well, why not reboot the original series?

Leatherface is getting his chainsaw going in this awesome reboot to the original franchise!

Now I will be honest and say that I really don’t know exactly how many of these rebooted classics have come out in the horror genre, but they are starting to ramp up!

The first one that I wanted to mention here is, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D (2013)!

A family reunited in this amazing reboot to the classic, ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ series!

Now I am going to say it… The remake series was pretty amazing! But considering the fact that the production company that made these movies allowed the series to jump the shark a little to early, I was hoping that they wouldn’t try to make another remake movie in that series, or try to remake the whole series… And they didn’t.. They made a truly awesome reboot!

As for the reboot, first off let me say that I was sorry to see them cut out the second and third movies (those were both great films,) and well I was glad they got rid of, ‘The Next Generation’ movie… That one just sucked!

But in the case of this reboot… What they did was they took the story line from the end of Tobe Hooper’s bad ass original movie (including actual stock footage from the original movie,) and took the story from that point (and used some classic actors from the original movies,) and told the story of what happened to the, ‘Sawyer Family’ after the final battle, and what happens when the last of that clan discovers who she is, and has to go to Texas to discover the truth about her family, and the member of the family that has a penchant for using chainsaws to cut down other things besides trees!

The next one that I wanted to mention… This one I recently discovered, and am really quite excited about… That being the reboot that will see the Halloween series going back to the original series instead of continuing on with Rob Zombie’s series!

Halloween is going back to basics soon!

First off I want to say that I am a fan of the series that Rob Zombie (Halloween) did… But with out his continuing to helm the series… I am going to be honest and say that I doubt it would survive…

With that said, I am glad to hear that Dimension Films and Trancas Films are taking the series back to basics soon with the original series that every one has grown up loving!

Let’s just put it this way… If they do as good a job at rebooting Halloween as they did with Texas Chainsaw Massacre… Then I will be thrilled! And folks give these reboots a try, I haven’t seen all the reboots out there, but so far the ones I have seen, I am pretty pleased with!
