Bloody Birthday (1981)

by  |  March 7th, 2012  |  Horror

Written by: Barry Pearson (Firebird 2015 AD), and also Written and Directed by: Ed Hunt (Alien Warrior). Starring: Lori Lethin (The Wave), K.C. Martel (E.T. The Extraterrestrial), Julie Brown (Any Which Way You Can), Melinda Cordell (The Young And The Restless), Elizabeth Hoy (The Blues Brothers), Andy Freeman (Eight Is Enough), Billy Jayne (The Beastmaster) and José Ferrer (Dune).

Since birth there has always been something rotten with, Steven Seton (Freeman), Curtis Taylor (Jayne), and Debbie Brody (Hoy)! Oh sure, on the outside these kids look like your classic good natured elementary school kids, (On The outside that is!)

On the inside though these kids were born wrong… You see something is missing inside of these kids, the only real friends they have are each other, and not one of them seems to have a moral fiber! A great example of this is that Debbie charges to let the local little boys watch her older sister, ‘Beverly’ (Brown) undress.

Now a couple of days before these kids Birthdays, they decide to start a new little game… This game being an indiscriminate killing spree!

Starting with a group of high school kids that were having sex in the local graveyard, they head on to bigger game, including their teacher, Debbie’s father, Sheriff James Brody (Played by: Burt Kramer), and leading up to the prey that has eluded them the most!  Beverly (Lethin) and Tommy (Martel)!

Now with no one in the town believing them, and the only proof being a a scrap book that the little lunatics have kept of all their kills, it will be up to Beverly and her brother Tommy to stop Debbie, Stephen and Curtis from being able to continue their little game, before both of them are, ‘tagged’ and taken out of the game literally!

Steven and Debbie as they are about to kill Debbie's father, 'Sheriff James Brody' and make it look like an accident.

Now what I like about this movie and what I do think makes this an amazing B movie is a couple of things:

1. Being a fan of horror movies and having one of my favorite movies being, Halloween (1978) (A movie that has a young boy killing his family at the beginning), I have found that type of story line to be particularly chilling, but also quite entertaining as well!

2. I thought that you guys might find this to be rather interesting, but it turns out that the house from the German poster for this movie it turns out was actually the same house that had been used in the Salem’s Lot mini series!

3. I also thought that you guys might find this to be rather interesting, but it turns out that Lori Lethen (Joyce in the movie) did all of her own stunts!

Well folks, if your looking for a fun scary movie to really sink your teeth in to, then I highly recommend this one, it might scare the heck out of ya!
