Weekend Box Office Report: Captain America: The First Avenger #1 For The Weekend

Chris Evans as 'Captain America' in 'Captain America: The First Avenger'

According to EW:

Captain America: The First Avenger: a movie that was directed by Joe Johnston (The Wolfman), and which stars Chris Evans (Fantastic Four), Hugo Weaving (The Hobbit movies), Samuel L. Jackson (Thor) and Haley Atwell (Any Human Heart).

This movie which is rumored to be one of a series of comicbook movies such as, The Incredible Hulk (2008) with Edward Norton (Fight Club), and Iron Man (2008) with Robert Downey Jr. (Sherlock Holmes), tells the story of the initial adventure of Captain America (Evans).

Well folks I got some good news for you Captain America/Comic Book movie fans out there… In it’s opening weekend, Captain America: The First Avenger pulled in a very nice $65.8 million dollars in the box office putting it at number 1 in the box office for the weekend!

At number 2 we got the final chapter in the epic ‘Harry Potter’ series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2, which is holding very solidly with having pulled in $48.1 million in the box office over the weekend!

At number 3 we got another weekend opener with Friends With Benefits, which stars Justin Timberlake (The Social Network) and Mila Kunis (Family Guy).  Friends With Benefits pulled in a solid $18.5 million in the box office for its opening weekend! And another returning contender in the top 5, at number 4 we got the latest Transformers epic, Transformers: Dark side Of The Moon, which is holding in there nicely with $12 million in the box office for the weekend! And at number 5 we got Horrible Bosses which did respectably in the box office over the weekend with $11.7 million in the box office over the weekend!

With that said it looks like in the world of movies this weekend, Captain America is the new king!

1. Captain America: The First Avenger = $65.8 Million

2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 = $48.1 Million

3. Friends with Benefits = $18.5 Million

4. Transformers: Dark of the Moon = $12 Million

5. Horrible Bosses = $11.7 Million
