Director Baz Luhrmann set to direct 3D ‘Gatsby’ movie in Australia.

According to The Hollywood Reporter:

Director Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge!) is set to begin directing an updated version of The Great Gatsby in 3D in Sydney Australia in August, said the announcement that came out yesterday.

The Great Gatsby will be the first ever live-action 3D film to be filmmed in NSW. The behind the scenes men on this project are Warner Bros. who are backing the project with Bazmark Films producing the movie (Bazmark Films being the director’s production company.)

Inception star Leonardo DiCaprio has already been tapped to play the starring role of Jay Gatsby, with Carey Mulligan (Shame) being offered the role of Daisy Buchanan.

Pre-production for The Great Gatsby is set to start next month.
