So the first time I saw a comedian who had been basically heavily well known for doing comedy… Was when I watched Jim Carey’s The Truman Show (1998) was released… And I have to say that I was really impressed!
I mean don’t get me wrong, It is not like actors who stick to mostly the same genres can’t sometimes switch… But Jim Carey’s Truman Show was a first for me… And I felt like he really, hit an emotional level that really hit home… And really made you think with the concept of a sometimes overdone entertainment industry!
And the most recent one I saw I have to say was a ton of fun as well! That being: Seeking A Friend At The End Of The World (2012)!
Written & Directed by: Lorene Scafaria (The Meddler). Starring: Steve Carell (Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy) & Keira Knightley (The Imitation Game)!
“OK, what we’re getting now is – yes, they’re saying it was in fact a fire that erupted inside the external tank of the ship, exactly ninety-eight seconds after it entered the asteroid field. No one is sure what caused the fire which led to the massive explosion, killing all twelve crew members and scientists aboard the space shuttle Deliverance, taking with them our last and only hope. Once again, if you’re just tuning in, the CSA space shuttle Deliverance has been destroyed. The final mission to save mankind has failed. The seventy mile wide asteroid known commonly as Matilda is set to collide with Earth in exactly three weeks time, and we’ll be bringing you up-to-the-minute coverage of our countdown to the ‘End of Days’, along with *all* your classic rock favorites. This is Q 107.2.”
– A quote from the movie: Seeking A Friend At The End Of The World (2012)!
This fun, and very heartwarming movie tells the story of how at the end of the world, when mankind is going to be wiped out by an astroid, ‘Dodge’ (Carell) and Penny (Knightley) are two almost completely seperate people, but just want to be with the one’s they love at the end of the world!
Dodge is a former insurance salesman who was miserable as a middle management type with a wife who didn’t love him… But lost her and stopped going to his job at the end of the world… And Penny was a free spirit!
When it turns out Penny accidentally kept a letter from the one Dodge thought was his true love… Penny gets him to take the final adventure of the lifetime! And what they find at the end of the world… Will change them for the rest of their lives!
Now I could go in to alot of why this movie is fun… The truth is, is the best part of this movie is everything! It is not an edge of your seat film… It is anti-climactic… But in the end… It does make you feel good… And is well worth the time!
