The Prince (2014)

by  |  July 3rd, 2015  |  Action/Adventure

You know I have to say that I was real fortunate that I grew up when I did, you see, when I was younger I grew up during one of the last true renaissances in movies… A time when Arnold Schwarzenegger (The Terminator) could still be seen fighting Aliens in, Predator (1987), or Bruce Willis could be seen killing terrorists in the Die Hard series etc…

You know I have to admit that some times I do truly miss those times…

Although I will admit that the first decade of the new millennium really did kind of suck for new movies (The marvel movies being a definite exception…)

I have to say that so far this new decade has really begun to shape up pretty nice! And you know what? Some of the old greats have come back as well to grace the screen! (Some may say that. that is a bad thing… But for my money, Sylvester Stallone (Rocky) can still kick plenty of ass!)

And speaking of finding these greats of yesteryear doing movies, I recently saw a great film  with Jason Patric (The Lost Boys), Bruce Willis (Die Hard) & John Cusack (1408) called, The Prince (2014)!

Ok… Well this movie has been out for awhile… But still… It is pretty new considering…

Now for my money I am going to say that the best thing about this movie that I really like is the fact that it combined that old 80s/90s action/thriller feel that we all know and love, with the special effects, and some of the modern wit that comes from the modern day movie industry!

He may not be fighting terrorists in the, ‘Nakatomi Building’ anymore, but Bruce Willis still brings a good tough guy act to the film!

Now what I mean by this, is that it melds a great cast, that includes besides the above, also 50 Cent, Jessica Lowndes (Altitude), Gia Mantegna (The Frozen Ground) & Jonathan Schaech (The Doom Generation) and that is just to name a few!

Also, the special effects in this film are what you would expect from a modern film… Pretty darn good!

And heck, even the story, a story about an ex-assassin by the name of, ‘Paul’ (Patric) who when he discovers that she has gone missing down by his old hunting grounds in New Orleans, he ends up hiring a friend of his daughter’s to drive him down to New Orleans to try and find her before the people he escaped from 20 years ago find him!

The problem is, is that when they do, Paul is going to have to come out of retirement for one last job if he is to save his daughter!

Jason Patric is really running against the clock to try and get to his daughter!

Even the talent was pretty amazing… But in the end, what really made this movie for me was the fact that all together this movie was pretty fantastic, but if you took apart all of the elements… They would not work well together!

Any guys and gals, check it out… You might like it!
