The Last Nazi (2009)

by  |  July 31st, 2015  |  Documentary

World War 2… This was one of the most brutal wars in human history, having literally killed millions of people all over the world. This war was a true test of freedom and was one of the greatest examples in human history of a true good vs. evil, when the allies took on the Nazi criminals and won!

Well since then, there has been a movement all over the world to research these guys… In some ways it has been for the worse… What with the Neo-Nazi movement having been the product of some horrible people’s interest bringing back this criminal organization… In some ways it has been good to…

What I mean by this is… Well, have you heard the term, ‘If you don’t study your history, then you are doomed to repeat it?’ Well scholars trying to understand the Nazi’s and how one of the most horrific institutions in the world became as powerful as it did is a good thing to research… Because lets be honest here folks, if we forget how horrible Nazism is, then we maybe doomed to have a new world war that this planet has to fight to destroy them again!

But the reason that I am writing this is not for a history lesson… The reason I am writing this is because I recently discovered a documentary that was done for the BBC called, ‘The Last Nazi.’

This documentary told an interesting story of a group of documentarians that traveled through out the world in an effort to track down the last surviving… Well the last surviving Germans who fought for the Nazi cause…

One of that last of the Nazi’s still alive that hadn’t up till this documentary had actually been captured!

Now you might be wondering why I am thinking this might be fascinating… I mean why would some one want to watch this type of stuff? Well for me, besides being a film fan, I am also a military history buff… And since that era is so far removed from the modern time, any information left to gain from that particular conflict we can mostly only get from documentaries that really don’t have direct interviews with  much, if any of the people that fought on any side during the war… And although it is good information… My only interest in that war from the Nazi side is how and why such a maniac was not just allowed control of an entire nation, but almost took over the world!

And you know what, these interviews definitely gave a look at a group of people and there particular mindset, that allowed them to have a madman control them… And where as it was truly horrible and wrong, it definitely made World War 2 make a little bit more sense, and if you are a military history buff, or a history buff in general, then you might want to check this one out, it is an interesting one…
