Darth Vader, a role that for the original Star Wars series was physically played by actor David Prowse (A Clockwork Orange) and voiced by James Earl Jones (Field Of Dreams), and which would subsequently, as part of the down fall of Anakin Skywalker and the rise of the Sith Lord himself in, Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge Of The Sith (2005), would end up being played by Hayden Christensen (Shattered Glass), might be making a comeback in the new, ‘Disney owned’ Star Wars movies.
According to Express,
A mole on the production explains, “He’s an integral part of the franchise. Replacing him is virtually impossible,” and would go on to explain, “The plan is for him to return and play a significant role in the new films.”
How this is set to occur… Who knows? Darth Vader was supposed to have been killed in Star Wars Episode 6: The Return Of The Jedi (1983), but if they are going to be following to any extent, the story line that kept the series alive in novel form (which they appear to be doing so, what with the possibility of Leia (originally played by Carrie Fisher) and Han (originally played by Harrison Ford) having kids in this new series.)
If they do decide to follow at least some of the story line from the novels, then rather they have Anakin Skywalker coming back in spirit form to help guide his family, or if the remnants of the Empire or some other evil group decides to clone Vader (as was at least part of a the story in the novels,) then having Vader coming back will prove to be very interesting…
In the end though, this is still just a rumor from an unknown mole on the production, so I guess at least for the time being, we are just going to have to wait to see if the rumor is true or not!
Star Wars Episode 7 is set to be released in 2015, until then though, enjoy this ultimate fight scene between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker from Star Wars Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back (1980):
