From the genius mind of the filmmaker who brought us “The Evil Dead an Spider-Man Trilogies”, Sam Raimi comes ‘Oz: The Great and Powerful’ (not to be mistaken with the HBO prison drama starring Luke Perry).
Oz: The Great and Powerful will serve as a prequel to the 1939 ‘Wizard of Oz’ starring Judy Garland. This time around the focus will be on the Wizard himself, played by James Franco, and how the Wizard arrived in Oz and his rise to power. Raimi and Franco teamed on Raimi’s Spider-Man franchise in recent years with great results.
Also joining the Oz team will be Mila Kunis, Zackh Braff, Ted Raimi, Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams as Glinda “The Good Witch”. Kunis and Franco had some solid scene stealing chemistry in Date Night, so this casting has some potential too.

"Wizard of Emo" - James Franco, Michelle Williams, Zach Braff and Mila Kunis take on the wonderful world of Oz in Sam Raimi's prequel.
Not much is known at this point other than filming has already begun and they have already taken at least one version of the trailer out for market research testing.
However, based on the below “Casting Breakdown” that went out last week, they’re looking for “Little People” and “Burley Men”. It’s possible the filming for Oz: The Great and Powerful scheduled in July, could be re-shoots based on the market research feedback. Read the exclusive email below:
Seeking Little People ages 18+ who are 4’9″ and shorter. Works in July (dates TBD) and will require a costume fitting as soon as this Thursday. The work-day base rate for performers in this category is $200/8. For consideration, please submit a current photo with accurate measurements. Additional photos/ info may be emailed to: **Email Deleted** ATTN: Little.

One thing is for certain, if Sam Raimi and James Franco weren’t making the Wizard of Oz prequel, then we’re certain Tim Burton and Johnny Depp might have!
