Weekend Box Office Report: Who’s the fairest of them all?

by  |  June 4th, 2012  |  News

Chris Hemsworth delivers an awesome performance as Thor in... oh wait, nope that's not a "Hammer of the Gods" he's holding... it's a battle axe... woops, sorry wrong movie!

Well what do you know? ‘Snow White and The Huntsman’ took first place at the Box Office this weekend grossing $56,255,000, proving fairytales can still come true! Also proving, Kristen Stewart can open a movie in summer without vampires and werewolves, and with the success of The Avengers, Chris Hemsworth can open 2 summer movies himself.

‘Men in Black III’ fell into second place with $29,300,000 with the above mentioned The Avengers still breaking records at third place with a Box Office take of $20,272,000.

While ‘whatever it’s called’ fell into fourth place with ‘For Greater Glory’ picking up the rear in tenth place with $1,800,000. Sure you’re probably saying to yourself, ” Wow, For Greater Glory only made $1.8 million more than my movie, and I didn’t even make a movie.” And you’re right!

Here’s the official Box Office numbers according to ScreenCrush.com:

1) Snow White and the Huntsman – $56,255,000

2) Men in Black 3 – $29,300,000

3) The Avengers – $20,272,000

4) Battleship – $4,810,000

5) The Dictator – $4,725,000

6) The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel – $4,600,000

7) What to Expect When You’re Expecting – $4,430,000

8) Dark Shadows – $3,860,000

9) Chernobyl Diaries – $3,045,000

10) For Greater Glory – $1,800,000

Come on man, ‘The Greater Glory’ starring Andy Garcia, Eva Longoria, Bruce Greenwood Ruben Blades and Peter O’toole, is a true story of cultural and historic significance. And if you don’t watch these movies too, then Hollywood won’t keep making them! Then your left with re-makes, TV show adaptations and sequels (see Raging Bull 2), and you can’t complain because you don’t act when they do take a chance on these types of films. Do you get how it works?
