Weekend Box Office Report: What movie had the strongest survival instinct?

by  |  June 11th, 2012  |  News

Ridley Scott's much anticipated Sci-Fi epic 'Prometheus' opened ton second place after 'Madagascar 3'.

It may have come as quite a shock to some, but ‘Madagascar 3′ came in at #1 over the weekend with $60,400,000, while Ridley Scott’s ‘Prometheus’ landed in 2nd place earning a mere $50,000,000. Proving that this summer has started off with family friendly fare hitting strong, while Sci-fi not so much.

The two films bumped ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ and ‘Men in Black 3′ into 3rd and 4th place respectively. While ‘The Avengers’ keeps a spot for itself in the Top 5, but also becoming the 3rd highest grossing movie of all time.

Bringing up the rear with $1,600,000  is Wes Anderson’s latest film, ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ starring Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Bruce Willis and Harvey Keitel.
