As luck would have it, the new trailer for Quentin Tarantino’s latest film ‘Django Unchained’ made it’s way to the internet today. Django Unchained is Tarantino’s homage to the Spaghetti Western genre and a tribute to such directors as Tonino Valerii, Sergio Corbucci and Giancarlo Santi.
In short, this is Tarantino’s way if scratching a creative itch that’s been long on his mind. And this time he recruited Jamie Foxx, Leonardo Di Caprio, Gerald McRaney along with his returning players Kurt Russell and Samuel L. Jackson.
Also notice how the beautiful artwork on the movie poster is reminiscent of the now legendary Mondo poster prints made famous by The Alamo Drafthouse. That’s an homage in itself!

This actually looks pretty good and I had all but given up on QT – guess I have my Christmas viewing planned then!

It’s like they say, X-mas is the season of miracles. I still have not seen Inglorious Bastards myself, I sort of checked out with Kill Bill, because it was just TOO much, like a bunch of short films strung together by film students who got their hands on a camera for the weekend. Though Volume 2 was better than V1…
I agree that Django has some potential though. Di Caprio has me a little bit nervous, Tarantino’s early work had a certain rhythm to the dialogue that his later stuff seems to miss. Russell nailed in Death Proof, and Samuel Jackson always nails it… and I’m sure Jamie Foxx will nail it… but Di Caprio…?
He’s the wild card, if he trying to “act properly” and be all mannerly and proper in his approach, that could spell trouble.
It’s like we were talking about Jon, ‘Jackie Brown’ is his best so far, still waiting for that chemistry to happen again!
