alt=”” width=”295″ height=”400″ />Now over the years I have seen many exploitation movies and hadn’t actually realized it, from Blacula (1972) to your basic Slasher movies (my favorite type of horror movies) with such films as Friday The 13th (1980), Prom Night (1980) etc… It wasn’t until about 5 years ago when I came to discover this whole entertaining sub-genre of movies that actually seem to span all of the main genres!

With that said though, one of these exploitation sub-genre’s that I really did not have much interest in was the Sexploitation sub-genre… Again it is one of those, ‘Don’t judge a book by its cover type of things…’

Now believe it or not I had a lot of pre-conceptions myself about sexploitation films, and rather or not they are soft core or even hard core porn, and I can’t speak for all of the sexploitation movies out there, but the one that I have seen, even though it does have a lot of adult themes (and I would not recommend this movie for children), but never the less I would say that this movie despite it’s adult themes, is not porn, and as a matter of fact, this movie in my opinion has a great cast and a great story to it!

This movie of course being, Invasion Of The Bee Girls (1973):

Written by: Nicholas Meyer (Judge Dee And The Monastery Murders), Denis Sanders (What’s The Big Hurry?). Starring: William Smith (Chrome And Hot Leather), Anitra Ford (The Longest Yard), Victoria Vetri (Group Marriage).

In the sleepy town of Peckham California, an epidemic seems to be forming of men of all ages dying off from the strangest thing… Sexual exhaustion!

The first victim of this strange circumstance happens to be at a government funded laboratory called Brandt… To investigate this occurence is a special investigator by the name of Neil Agar, who happens to be an agent with the Security section of the State Department.

Dr. Susan Harris (Anitra Ford) as she is about to convert another victim in to a Bee Girl.

Now at first when he gets there, he starts conducting his interviews with various people through out the research facility, but on his second interview he comes to meet Julie Zorn (Vetri) a woman who ends up being very instrumental in Agar’s work to try and discover what is going on at Brandt…

Now during the research that Agar and Zorn are doing, more and more bodies begin to pile up (all having died of the same thing…) With these murders becoming a real epidemic, Agar decides to have the town quarantined until the cause of these deaths can be resolved!

With the town getting steadily more and more restless, it is now a race against time for Agar and Zorn to discover the strange and bizarre cause of these deaths before more men die, and before the town gets out of control!

Now you maybe wondering what makes this an awesome b movie… Well a couple of things!

1. William Smith, this actor I would say maybe one of the most underrated yet better actors to have come out of the 1970s, I mean just about any role he does, rather it be as the leader of the bad biker gang in Chrome And Hot Leather (1971) or as the Police Captain in Maniac Cop (1988) and he also brought this same level of brilliance to his role in, Invasion Of The Bee Girls!

2. Another person that I thought that I would mention here is Nicholas Meyer who wrote a couple of the Star Trek films… This was actually the first film that he wrote that was made in to a movie!

3. Also, for those looking for this movie on DVD, it looks like this movie’s name was changed to Graveyard Tramps for the DVD release…

With that said, if your looking for a fun interesting, Science Fiction movie, this one is actually quite a lot of fun one!
